Piano Decorations: More Than Your Regular Easter Theme

So, the question for me was: My students aren't coming to my studio right now. They're getting their lessons over Skype for the time being or just taking a break. So do I bother putting up my Resurrection Weekend deco?

In the end, I decided, yes. Because nobody said I can't share them with you.

The Cross ...

...because when wrong is done, someone has to pay.

It's ingrained somewhere deep inside us. When we are robbed, cheated, betrayed, we want the other person to suffer. We know that is justice. But when it's us ... we crave mercy.

And for that reason, every world religion has demanded a sacrifice. Something was needed to appease whatever God or gods that religion worshiped. The Jews were commanded to sacrifice livestock. The Mayans and Aztecs did bloody sacrifices of a more brutal type. (No details -- you probably already know why!!!) Modern religions claim that good works and generous giving are the sacrifice needed to gain entrance to heaven. But there is only One Sacrifice that can possibly be good enough.

"Who [Jesus Christ] needeth not daily, as those high priests, to offer up sacrifice ... [for the wrongdoings of people] ... for this He did once, when He offered up Himself." Hebrews 7:27

The Lamb ...

   ...innocent. Meek. Silent. Loving.

Innocent, in contrast with our guilt. Meek, in contrast with our stubbornness. Silent, in contrast with our outcries. Loving, passionately, in contrast with our apathy and even hatred.

Someone had to pay. Someone did pay.

"He was oppressed, and He was afflicted, yet He opened not His mouth: He is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so He openeth not His mouth." Isaiah 53:7
"But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon Him; and with His stripes we are healed." Isaiah 53:5

"He is Risen"

   Alleluia!

He didn't just die, like any other person. Christ battled with death ... and won!

"Knowing that Christ being raised from the dead dieth no more; death hath no more dominion over Him." Romans 6:9

"O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?" 1 Corinthians 15:55

The Flowers ...

...a symbol of spring. Because, just as surely as spring will come, so we who believe on Christ for salvation will receive life after death.

Death was not the end for Christ. Death is not the end for us either. For some, that may be a frightening thought. For believers, it is a glorious thought. There is a heaven! And we can know we're going there!

"And this is the will of Him that sent Me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on Him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day." Words of Jesus, John 6:40
